A seven-day 4WD expedition from Adelaide deep into South Australia's outback, traversing from coastal heritage towns through the Flinders Ranges to the remote opal fields of Coober Pedy. Travel in a small group across legendary tracks—the Oodnadatta, Dingo Fence, and William Creek—visiting Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary with its granite peaks and rare Yellow-Footed Rock-Wallabies, Wilpena Pound's amphitheatre landscape, and The Breakaways' rust-coloured ridges at sunset. What to expect

Expect long days traversing red earth and spinifex country in a capable 4WD with a knowledgeable guide. You'll camp or lodge in small towns, wake early to cover vast distances, and tackle moderate walks through gorges and across rangeland. Temperatures swing dramatically—scorching days, cold nights. The landscape shifts from coastal farmland through jagged mountain passes to flat, treeless expanses. Roads range from sealed highways to corrugated tracks. You'll see wildlife adapted to harshness: rock wallabies, raptors, reptiles. Coober Pedy's underground dwellings and opal diggings reveal how people live in extremity.

Good to know

Maximum 16 travellers per group. Bring layers, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent and fly nets—the outback sun and flies are relentless. Moderate fitness required; not suitable for spinal or heart conditions. One suitcase, one carry-on only. Child discounts available; kids need adult supervision. Minimum height 1.4 metres.
