What to expect
You'll depart the cruise terminal mid-morning and drive 45 minutes to McLaren Vale. Expect 3–4 hours sampling wines at two or three wineries; staff pour, explain, and let you decide what appeals. Portions are modest—tasting protocol means small pours across multiple varieties. By early afternoon, you'll head north to Hahndorf, arriving around lunchtime. The main street is a mix of cafés, butchers, bakeries, and antique shops reflecting the town's 1830s Lutheran migration. You'll have time to eat, browse, and photograph before returning to the ship by evening.
