Adelaide Weather

With a Mediterranean climate, Adelaide is a city that experiences hot dry summers and cool wet winters throughout the year. Sometimes Adelaide can experience a number of seasons in one day depending on what time of year it is, with a cool start to the day and experiencing warmer tempts throughout the day and seeing passing showers come afternoon. For pretty much most of the year, Adelaide has clear blue skies and great temperatures that make it perfect for you to get out and about and explore what this capital city has to offer.

Out of all of the capital cities in Australia Adelaide is the most driest one with rainfall being very infrequent during summer and come winter you will see wet, cool days and June is the most wettest month out of the year with the average rainfall sitting at approximately 80mm. Winter in Adelaide can see temps fall to around 15 – 16 degrees between the months of June and August during the day and nightfall will see a minimum of around 8 degrees making fires and anything indoors very attractive. But even with these tempts Adelaide still is an attractive city with frosty mornings, cool winter days that let you see Adelaide in a different light. And sometime if the temperatures are right, winter can, on rare occasions, see snow fall in some parts around Adelaide.

Summer in Adelaide is a great time for the beach, with tempts soaring to the mid 30’s making swimming and anything water related very appealing. The average day temperatures sit at approximately 29-30 degrees and night tempts at around the mid 20’s, so during the day you can explore and experience and come night time you can dine out al fresco or see the sights but city lights with comfortable tempts that just beacon you to come outdoors. Adelaide has seen some scorching summer days throughout the passing years with temperature something creeping to the low 40’s. In the year 1939 Adelaide had the highest temperature of 46.1 degrees (115.0 ⁰F) and in March of 2008 there were 15 straight days where Adelaide also experienced tempts of over 35 degrees.

These extreme tempts are not a common occurrence and even with high temperatures you can still retreat to air-conditioned comfort with shopping malls and centres, restaurants, coach buses, indoor attractions and many other places being properly equipped to deal with hotter days during summer. Autumn and Spring see many visitors coming to Adelaide with very comfort summer days, clear blue skies and wonderful weather being one of the main draw cards during this time. You will see many performing acts, live gigs and festivals being held during this time as the weather is ideal for this time of year.

Adelaide is a great city for all types of trips away, whether it be for business or pleasure and with pretty much perfect weather all year round you can experience a great trip away. Come in summer between December and February, or Autumn which is between the months of March and May or see Adelaide in the winter from June to August, but no matter what time of year you decide to visit you can be assured that the weather will present a variety of things to see and do for you all to enjoy.
